The Tech-Air® Off-Road is a FIM-homologated airbag system built to withstand the challenges of rally riding, offering exceptional upper body protection. Tested in the harshest conditions of the Dakar Rally since 2017, this advanced airbag system provides CE Level 1 protection for the chest and back, as well as coverage for the shoulders, neck, and collarbones during a crash.

Integrated into an Alpinestars Off-Road Protection Jacket, the system includes CE Level 2 chest protection, CE Level 1 back, elbow, and shoulder protectors, and extra padding on the chest and arms for roost protection from rocks and debris. It features three pre-set riding modes—ENDURO, RALLY, and STREET—that can be easily managed via an LED display or the Tech-Air® app, making it versatile for off-road and street riding.

The Tech-Air® Off-Road system uses a standalone electronic control unit (ECU) with accelerometers and gyroscopes for precise crash detection, requiring no external sensors. Its dual gas inflators allow for two separate airbag deployments, inflating the system in just 52 milliseconds. The system’s lithium-ion battery lasts up to 30 hours on a full charge, with an option for quick charging that provides 8 hours of use after just 1 hour.

The jacket is user-friendly, with an auto-activation feature triggered by zipping it up, and a sleep mode for safe transport using a shipping mode switch. The airbag and ECU are removable, allowing the jacket to be washed separately. It also supports hydration packs with a capacity of 1.5–3 liters, adding convenience for long rides.
