Designed to make advanced airbag protection more accessible, it showcases Alpinestars’ commitment to rider and passenger safety with the most comprehensive active airbag technology on the market.

This slim, self-contained airbag vest fits under any properly sized textile jacket or Tech-Air® compatible leather jacket, or even standard leather jackets with 4 cm of extra room around the chest. Offering unparalleled upper-body protection, it safeguards the shoulders, chest, ribs, and full back—critical areas during road impacts. The unique shoulder coverage reduces the risk of shoulder and collarbone injuries, providing unmatched peace of mind.

Developed using insights from years of research, millions of kilometers of riding data, and thousands of crash scenarios—including contributions from over half of the world’s top MotoGP riders—the Tech-Air® 5 features an intelligent crash detection algorithm that activates the airbag in just 20-40 milliseconds, depending on airbag size.

Easy to use, the vest activates with a zip and magnetic flap closure. It includes six sensors (three gyroscopes and three accelerometers) and AI-driven technology to accurately detect crash scenarios. The airbag provides protection equivalent to 18 CE Level 1 back protectors. It features a 30-hour battery life, a quick-charge magnetic USB system, and Bluetooth connectivity with the Tech-Air® app, which displays operational status, battery level, and ride analytics.

The Tech-Air® 5 is compatible with most jackets, requiring sufficient space to accommodate airbag inflation. For textile jackets, ensure 4 cm of extra room around the body. For leather jackets, Alpinestars’ Tech-Air® compatible designs include expansion panels, or ensure the jacket has the necessary additional space.
